welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. its been a while. im breaking into the blogging habit again in a big way. and by big way i mean in the form of wesley willis, the "daddy of rock n roll." im not sure why it took me so long to find this guy, but his songs are by far the funniest things i have heard in a very long time. i laughed last night til i cried. i was sweating from laughter profusely while listening to "you better find my pistol." he passed away back in 2003, and i am really wishing i had the chance to see him perform live. he was 6-5, and between 300 and 350 pounds, and sat on stage with his casio keyboard.
there is a simple recipe for his songs. two verses, a long instrumental, followed by a final verse, his classic, "rock over london, rock on chicago," then a mini advertisement from everything from blockbuster video to listerine: "blockbuster video: wow, what a difference."
this all sounds weird, but its worth the time. go to his myspace site here:
some of its a bit profane, particularly the ones entitled, "suck a llamas smelly ass" and "the vultures ate my dead ass up."
go to youtube, cause they also have some good wesley live performances. why do we have to lose another musical genius so young? shame.

dont even ask how i stumbled across this gem of pop favorites remade by kids... actually, i was sucked in when i saw that the 13th edition had just come out and was on the itunes front page. i thought - "what the fudge is this?" i had to look...

so... its a collection of those annoying songs youve heard repeatedly over the course of the past year sung by real live kids! by far the most awesome thing i have ever heard! personal faves are umbrella, SOS, and gnarls barkley's crazy. nothing makes these songs better than the shouting of each lyric by 8 or 9 kids.

dont forget lips of an angel by mega crap band hinder - remember them? lets not forget they remade ultra worthless nickelback by sounding exactly like them. (dont worry, theres a couple nickelback tunes too) i like how this song is about cheating on your girlfriend and is sung by children. i might even like the kidz bop version better than the original. not hard to do. by the way its on the 11th edition, if you want to buy it.
if you want a laugh or you like bad songs sung by children, check this shit out. its definitely worth it.

perhaps the best part of the new year is the flurry of new albums that are set to come out. one in particular, to which i hold just a bit more excitement for, is elbow's seldom seen kid, due out march 18th. most everything this band touches is golden to me, and this new album promises to be one of their best, though i have heard just two tracks from it.

i havent had much time to write on here, as school has kept me busy. but that will be over soon and i can concentrate on better things like making fun of dumb people and listening to great music. major overhaul here around march 19th-ish.

just as thought... so "professional wrestling" is obviously fake, its purely entertainment, right? (note: entertainment for the white trash, inbred population of america) ...so im watching a very exciting scripted match between some guy who resembles gheorghe muresan and a combination of every 1980s wrestler i ve ever seen (in fact he seems to be in his mid to late 40s, so he may have been one).

so im watching this damn thing and im wondering - who the hell are these refs? have they worked their way through the fake wrestling minor leagues, perfecting their inconspicuous knack for getting distracted just at the right moment for one of the steroid infested gargantuan wrestlers to grab a lead pipe, knock out his opponent, then pin him, just in time for the ref to turn around, assess the situation and inexplicably begin the countdown. is this where refs go when they realize they suck at regular refereeing? or is the pinnacle of their careers? they gotta be making pretty good dough. but then again, they are also the biggest referee sell outs of all time.

lots of things happening right now, thus the blog has taken a bit of a hit. bear with me! i am anticipating beautiful things in the coming months, as i venture out into the real world, and leave shitty jobs behind, moving towards a career.

i am presently listening to vampire weekend, to which i was completely hesitant to listening to, but i gotta admit, they are something vicious. they are like the brand new pair of socks to my yellow crocs. the light mayonnaise to my teriyaki dinner. go check em out bee-atches.

two midterms this week really blows, but technically these will be my LAST midterms of college. *tear*

have a good week. go see a band youve never heard before. watch a movie you heard was really bad. tivo a weeks worth of dr phil and watch it in a mini marathon at the end of the week. be extra thorough in the shower for once in your life. but most importantly, hug a family member. they probably deserve it. have a good week.

on constant rotation at the moment is liam finn's i'll be lightning, and the song "energy spent" which has become my theme song. the lyrics below:

oh the view of the sea

the deep blue adriatic sea

the clouds are covering the hills in a madness

that sometimes covers over me

but im not broken just a little energy spent and its a long way from here

with a towel on my hips

and the salt upon my lips

i am starting to look like a homeless

with a beard on my chin

but im not broken just a little energy spent and its a long way from here

... simple but awesome song. march 4th at the high dive i will be in the front row with my beard buddy.

one of the most underrated, underappreciated bands around is nada surf. they have unfortunately been linked with the horrible one hit wonder label (remember popular?). But these guys keep pumping out catchy, solid albums, including their latest, lucky, due out on tuesday. i will not reveal how i got to hear it before that, but i can tell you that it is the best i have heard in 08 thus far. i cant stop listening to "beautiful beat" and "weightless" is a really nice track. its unfortunate that they carry the one hit stigma, but in a way its a blessing, since i can still go see them at the showbox for under 20 bucks (like i am doing march 28th).
lots of good shows coming up - i will make a column in the right hand side of this page as soon as midterms are over next weekend.
one month of school left! i am so ready for this journey to be over...

chicken taquitos as delicious. they are even delicious when you heat them up in the microwave at 11 oclock at night. so im casually eating my wonderful taquitos, minding my own business. one eye on the tv (how else am i supposed to eat?), i scoop up a nice mixture of salsa/sour cream. eyes slightly diverted. i look down. the chunk of salsa is slowly tipping. falling. i make like hell and move my head towards the corn tortilla goodness before the suculent salsa falls back onto the plate. i open my mouth. i close my eyes. or were they still on the tv? regardless i was not looking at the taquito like i really should have been. my eyes briefly glance down at the taquito, its too late. i bite down. it hurts. not my mouth. no leg cramps. pain. my finger. ive bitten into my finger. it really hurts. i mustve been hungry. but its not like these delicious treats are hard to bite into. damn that really hurt. has anyone ever been bitten before? i cant seem to remember a pain like this. but ive never been bitten. at least not by a human. in my defense a finger (at least mine) looks like a taquito. but and this is a huge but, i did take a giant munch on my own digit. i need to completely rethink my eating habits. either that or where gloves made out of the material they use to train police dogs whenever i dish out the frozen goodness that is costco chicken taquitos.

the beautiful thing about tivo is that it records awesome shows no matter what time they are on, on any channel. when it captures the highly entertaining 'cheaters' on the wb (is it still the wb?), it also captures awesome ads for juicers, grills, and girls gone wild - which got me thinking... where are these girls now? presumably they are in college and most of them got degrees in something and presuming that some of them got jobs not at hooters - i ask the simple question:

where are they now?

...is the girl that made out with her best friend topless for a t-shirt the lovely young lady who made me a subway club the other day?

...is the chick who pulled down her bikini bottoms for a set of glittery beads the one who checked me in at the dentists office?

... is the girl who got into the girls gone wild bus for an extra 50 bucks for a "private show" the one who helped me get my finances in order?

... are the girls who found it so exilerating to show the world their nipples the ones who design the clothing to cover such nipples?

nah, who am i kidding, theyre all probably strippers and porn stars. but its an interesting thought.

i am trying something new here. i am reading merriam webster's vocabulary builder, and i am finding it difficult to remember some of the words that are being "built" into my vocabulary. so - on this blog - we will learn some words together. good idea? i think its brilliant. i shall define it, then put it in my own sentence. and that will be hilarious.

word #1
bellicose. warlike, aggressive, quarrelsome. as james stood over his vomit, he became a bit bellicose in his decision to punch judy in the face.

word #2
paramour. a lover, often secret, not allowed by law of custom. my first marriage ended when my wife found out i had been supporting a paramour and several children in hawaii.

word #3
gravid. pregnant or enlarged with something. after jill flung the poo nearly 50 meters, karen felt gravid with pride over her daughters accomplishment.

okay so that is how it works. as my vocabulary grows so will yours. have a nice weekend.

okay ive never been a fan of the oc, but rachel bilson is hot. her hotness transcends any crappy tv show or movie shes ever been in (i.e. the last kiss).
there has been a change involving the top of my head. instead of a faux hawk, i decided to go with a full mohawk. i still get scared when i see myself in the mirror, but its pretty baller.

so it was reported today that many of my heroes in life use performance enhancing drugs. they have bought and used HGH in order to be funnier, sing more raspier, and make albums so dope they made my head spin. damn you mary j blige, 50 cent, timbaland, wyclef, and tyler perry. you have tainted the entertainment field with you drugs and your weightlifting. i can no longer look at wyclefs carnival without thinking he cheated. every album timbaland has laid a hand on should contain an asterik, even justin timberlakes beloved futuresex/ lovesounds (i still cant believe that is actually the name of it). mary j blige on steroids? i dont think there is anything scarier.

forget barry bonds, there are larger questions here. ive been cheated out of mainstream hip hop and tyler perrys thousands of straight to dvd movies about his crazy family. this is a travesty. i am going to have a ceremonial burn of such albums and dvds this saturday if anyone wants to join me.

there will be a lot of things i will miss at uw-bothell. the small classes, the great professors, the cozy campus nestled ever so pleasantly in the bothell forest. in just a year and change, i have become attached to the little extension campus that could. but there is one thing that i will miss more than anything, even though i have only recently discovered its presence. this quarter, i have two day classes followed by an evening one, and in between i have roughly two hours to fill. what to do? mainly, ive been blogging, reading and "studying" in the library. and in this library contains the jewel of the uwb campus. (wow such build up here).

the first time i walked into the main floor bathroom, i instantly noticed the heat. i am taken back to the baths in budapest and their insanely warm saunas. do they know they are blasting the heat like this? the campus is known for being one of the most eco-friendly campuses in the nation; are they not worried about their energy bill? anyway - its warm. but once you get used to it, its nice. the weather is chilly outside and the heat, although a bit uncomfortable at first, becomes tolerable.

now im not one to discuss what one does behind the closed doors of a bathroom stall, but the other day i had to go. i am not a fan of public restrooms simply for the fact that they are disgusting. urinals are cool though. anyone who knows me knows that ive never had a problem peeing anywhere (off a raft in front of 30 people anyone?). but taking care of other business is something i like to do at home. dropping a duece if you will. there is truely no place like home.

on this particular day, i could not wait. and low and behold, i entered the uwb library bathroom stall. clean. theres a magazine rack bolted to the wall that folds out so that you dont have to hold the disgusting newspapers someone elses feces ridden hands have touched. the toilet seat is the real treat though. its not one of those standard seats that makes you think as you lower your ass, "am i gonna cover this whole area?" the seat is the perfect distance apart, but not so close that youre making bank shots.

the seat itself is made of something softer than the normal toilet. like sitting on a couple buttermilk pancakes. the toilet paper dispenser also manages not to make you feel like you have to play tug of war in order to get a few squares. the tp slides out no problem. no tearing. most dispensers give you that feeling that you have to pull ever so gently, like you are pulling from the grasp of a sleeping grizzly bear.

there is also a bulletin on the door bragging about how much water the school is saving by making the "no touch flush" a "touch flush." but whats most hilarious about this is the fact that someone took the time to write a paragraph on that sheet of paper explaining how the touch-no touch flush makes no sense. literally a paragraph. and its not like you can write this from the comforts of the toilet seat. you have to stand in order to reach it. i barely want to be in the bathroom long enough to go to the bathroom. but to stand in a stall before or after taking care of business and writing a paragraph about this is sad. actually gross. but it made me chuckle.

the uw-bothell library bathroom is what i will miss the most about uwb even though i have only been in the presence of this crown jewel once. but i am eagerly anticipating my return. i have a whole quarter to make up for lost time.

i just had to post this. this is the best deal kfc has had in quite a while. and with this particular "restaurant" right across the street from home, i have the privilege of seeing what the latest deals are pretty much daily. this one, i could not pass up. i wonder where this cake is coming from and who is ordering this. how fresh can this cake be? i kind of doubt that kfc does much baking, much less having the oven capabilities. who is getting this? wait - lets back up - who is getting the "feast" meal? who is getting the feast meal then thinking: "you know what this feast is missing? cake!!" who actually finishes this feast of chicken (and god knows what else), then wants cake. i hardly want cake even when everyone else is eating it and its free. i cant imagine wanting to eat cake after fried chicken. is this just me?

tonight, i will say a little prayer for the people in my neighborhood who have ordered this, thought about ordering this, or driven past this sign and thought this was a good idea.

so i am currently toying with different layouts, etc, and i am finding it a long process. i am also looking into moving this blog to another host, since blogger seems a bit limited. some of the features that were once to the right of this are gone due to my own inability to download a new template. this is all foreign to me. this blog must be perfect, and i wont accept anything less. bear with me. in the meantime, enjoy this toilet house.

life is almost returning to normal. this writers strike is killing late night tv. conan is just plain unfunny and its killing me. the greed in this country is taking away an american pastime. i miss wasting hours of my life staying up watching late night tv. the daily show was back tonight, and i gotta admit it was pretty damn funny. i think there is a little more room to speak your mind in cable (heard conan comments in support of the writers got edited out the first night back). letterman has never been funnier (dressed up as the gortons fisherman tonight - fish sticks are delicious). lets end this strike. i need to be lazy again.

today marks the beginning of the end of an era. for as long as ive been an adult, i have been in college. i began this journey at 18, and now i stand at 27 years old on the verge of my final college quarter before real life begins. i have been exposed to a world that i never knew existed, one that i am hesitant in joining. its hard to think of a life without the constant of homework, reading assignments, and weekly use of microsoft word. can i hire a professor hang out with me for 2-4 hours, twice a week and give me grades?

anyway - today was the first day of school. quite possibly my last one. i will miss it terribly, i think. i just hope i dont switch off my brain too early.

okay, so its 2008. it seems that i switch back every other year from a good new years to a bad one, and this one was by far one of the best. i was surrounded by my closest friends and more intoxicated than id been in months. the resolutions havent begun, but the are in the works for the coming weeks. i hope everyone had as good a new years eve as i did. im expecting big things in 2008.
